Reading:
At Adlington Primary School, we want our pupils to become life-long readers. To this end, we ask that all children read at home at least five times a week. Please support your child with their reading skills by listening to them read, asking them questions about the text and by signing their reading diary each week. Please remember to encourage your child to access Bug Club too at home.
Pupils in Year 3 will take part in a guided reading lesson everyday in school and will be taught comprehension skills and strategies. The eight key skills taught include: clarifying; summarising; activating prior knowledge; visualising; connecting; predicting; questioning; and evaluating.
Homework:
Home learning will be sent each Friday and needs to be handed in the following Thursday. This includes daily reading, a '4 for 4 plus 1 more' maths sheet and another piece of English or maths. We encourage children to use Times Table Rock Stars to support them with knowledge of x10, x5, x2, x3, x4 and x8 tables.
PE:
Children will be working with CCSP and other sports companies throughout the year for PE. Please ensure your child comes to school in the correct PE kit on a Tuesday and a Friday (Autumn Term 1 2024).
Reminders:
Earrings need to be removed and long hair must be tied up.
All clothing/equipment needs to be named, including water bottles.
Please use Class Dojo, in conjunction with our class webpage, for information and reminders. It is lovely to share your child’s successes on Class Dojo too!
