Classroom Routines

Guided Reading:

Your child will read as part of a group twice a week.  This is their guided reading book that will be kept in school. They will also bring home an additional book to read of their choice . Children need to have their reading books in school every day. We would like children to read 5 times a week. This can include newspapers articles, other books from home, books or articles they read online. Please ensure your child records this in their reading log.

The days on which your child will read depends on where their group is placed on the timetable, therefore some groups will read the beginning of the week and some will read towards the end. Children are encouraged to change their home reader when they arrive at school in the morning.

Homework:

A learning log will be sent home every Friday and will need to be returned the following Thursday. These activities will be related to something that we have done or will be doing in class during the week. The children will be able to share and consolidate their learning.

Spellings will be sent home on Fridays, they will be tested the following Friday. Activities throughout the week in school will support them learning their weekly spellings and their meanings.

Times Tables will be sent home weeky.

Additonal work will be sent home to support their preparation for SATS.

PE:

Please ensure that your child has their PE kit in School at all times. PE will be on a Tuesday and Friday afternoons, however, children may take part in PE activities throughout the week so it is important that they have a PE kit in School. Children may also have an outdoor PE kit in school if you wish.

Polite reminders:

Please ensure uniform, PE kits and water bottles are clearly named.
