Things to remember

Classroom Routines

 

Guided Reading:

Children will read with a teacher at least once during the week. Children are encouraged to change their ‘extra reader’ in school, we will support your child with this. Children can change their extra reader on a Monday and a Thursday. 

Children must bring their reading packets to school every day and practise their reading each night. Please ensure that you have signed your child’s reading record so that we are able to see when they have read.

You might explore characters, storylines or new vocabulary together.

Remember the whole school target is 5 reads each week.

Bug Club is used within school, all children will access this at least once a week. Please continue to use this as much as possible at home too.

We have our reading incentive in school, children should fill their 'reading passport' in order to virtually visit a country and get a dip in the prize box too! Please note, reading passports will be kept in school. 

 

Homework:

Home learning will be sent each Friday and should be returned the following Thursday. This includes daily reading and times tables/mental maths practise.

Year 2 children will also receive spellings, and Year 1 children will be sent tricky words and common exception words to learn. 

 

PE:

Children will be working with CCSP and other sports companies throughout the year for PE. Please ensure that your child has both their indoor and outdoor PE kit in school at all times.

 

Reminders:

Earrings need to be removed and long hair must be tied up.

All clothing/equipment needs to be named, including water bottles.
