Things to remember

Reading:

At Adlington Primary School, we want our pupils to become life-long readers. To this end, we ask that all children read at home at least five times a week.  Please support your child with their reading skills by listening to them read, asking them questions about the text and by signing their reading diary each week.  Please remember to encourage your child to access Bug Club too at home.

Pupils in Year 3 will take part in a guided reading lesson everyday in school and will be taught comprehension skills and strategies.  The eight key skills taught include: clarifying; summarising; activating prior knowlegde; visualising; connecting; predicting; questioning; and evaluating.

Homework:

Home learning will be sent each Friday and needs to be handed in the following Thursday. This includes daily reading, a '4 for 4 plus 1 more' maths sheet and another piece of English or maths.  Spellings and times tables are also sent home every Friday with quizzes taking place at the end of the following week.

PE:

Children will be working with CCSP and other sports companies throughout the year for PE. Please ensure that your child has both their indoor and outdoor PE kit in school at all times.

Reminders:

Earrings need to be removed and long hair must be tied up.

All clothing/equipment needs to be named, including water bottles.

Please use Class Dojo, in conjunction with our class webpage, for information and reminders. It is lovely to share your child’s successes on Class Dojo too!
