The Birthday Gift That Keeps On Giving!
At Adlington Primary School, we love birthdays… Each child receives a special card, we enjoy the chance to sing our unique birthday song and the children love wearing their own clothes in class to celebrate. With this in mind, we have started a birthday tradition at Adlington and this letter outlines our ‘Birthday Book’ initiative. Many parents generously send class treats into school when it’s their child’s birthday. Instead of sweets or chocolates though, you may like to support our idea to donate a lasting treat…a brand new book for the school library! By donating a book on your child’s birthday, pupils across the whole school will benefit and the gift will be treasured and shared for many years to come.
To participate in our initiative, you can visit ‘Ebb and Flo’ at 12 Gillibrand St, Chorley, when it’s your child’s birthday. Our local, independent bookshop has a wide selection of books from our school ‘wishlists’ that you can purchase (below). The staff there will be more than happy to help you select a book for school. They also welcome telephone orders on 01257 262773.
We always add a beautiful book plate to the inside front cover so we know who has donated it and we feature children who have donated books in Bookworms (our reading newsletter).
It is our aim to enable all pupils to enjoy reading for pleasure, and with your support, our library shelves can be boosted with the latest releases! Thank you for participating.
